🔧 Tool Upgrade Order Guide

The best tool upgrade order in Fields of Mistria is: Pickaxe → Watering Can → Axe → Hoe → Fishing Rod. Pickaxe first because mining unlocks ore for all other upgrades and Essense for perks. Watering Can second because crops are your main income source and a better can saves massive daily stamina. Axe and Hoe follow once your mining income is stable.

💡 This order assumes you are in your first year. If you are already mid-game with stable income, prioritize whichever tool you use most.

The pickaxe is your gateway to the Mines — and the Mines are the gateway to everything. Ore from mining is required to upgrade every other tool, craft the engagement ring, buy the Seed Maker, and unlock the Stone Refinery. Mining also generates Essence for skill perks at the Dragon Statue. Without a decent pickaxe, you waste stamina on rocks that a higher-tier pickaxe breaks in one hit.
