Children are completely optional — you can enjoy married life without them.
Quick Facts

Timeline
- Wedding day.
- +2 weeks (in-game time): a bedtime cutscene where you receive the Mystical Feather.
- Present the feather to your spouse and discuss whether to have a child; once confirmed, the due date is marked on the calendar.
- + another 2 weeks: the baby is born.
- Total: roughly 4 weeks (1 in-game month) from wedding to birth. Both 2-week waits are fixed.
💡 Total ~4 weeks (1 game month) from wedding to birth.
Birth Options (Inclusive)
When discussing children, choose how the baby arrives — inclusive for all gender combinations:
| Option | Applies To |
|---|---|
| The Great Bird delivers | Universal — works for all gender combinations. The same Great Bird that delivered the Mystical Feather brings the baby. |
| Spouse carries (pregnancy) | Available when the spouse is a female character. |
| Player carries (pregnancy) | Available when the spouse is a male character (regardless of the player's own gender). |
Naming
- Spouse suggests a default name: Each spouse suggests a default baby name, shown as the default option during the birth event. E.g. Juniper suggests "Rune".
- Player can change to any name: The player can rename the baby to anything they want. The name is the only customizable attribute — gender and appearance cannot be changed.
Appearance & Genetics
- Fixed: each baby has a preset gender and appearance, locked once the save generates them.
- Resembles the marriage candidate themselves, or a member of the candidate's family (if they have one) — i.e. appearance is anchored to the spouse rather than the player character.
- Fully unique: each couple's baby has an independent appearance (unique based on you and your spouse).
- Spouse has a hold-baby alternate sprite (e.g. Juniper holding baby Rune's dedicated sprite).
Daily Interactions
| Action | Detail |
|---|---|
| Spouse holds by default | After birth, the spouse holds the baby by default and carries it through their daily routine. |
| Player can take over | The player can take the baby from the spouse and carry it while doing chores. |
| No ability penalty | Holding the baby does not weaken any ability — all activities (farming / fishing / mining / combat, etc.) work as normal. |
| Put in Crib | The baby can be placed in a crib indoors and left unattended safely. When the baby is born, Landen (the carpenter, Ryis's uncle) mails the player a crib; place it and you can leave the baby at home. |
💡 No parenting penalty — baby is companionship, not a burden.
1.0 Limitations
- Only 1 child — there is no second child.
- Never grows up — permanently stays in the holdable baby form; does not crawl, walk, talk, or go to school.
- Community hopes for future growth stages, but this is unconfirmed — the official wiki states it is not known whether further development stages for Player Children are planned for any future updates.
